AI at USP

Discover some of the artificial intelligence projects currently underway at USP:

TELUS Digital Research Hub at USP

The Hub is dedicated to researching AI-based technologies that enable accessible, intuitive and reliable user and customer experiences (UX/CX) in a secure, efficient, and aligned to human values manner.

Center for Artificial Intelligence – C4AI (USP/Fapesp/IBM)

This Applied Research Center (CPA Fapesp) conducts state-of-the-art AI research, exploring both fundamental and applied aspects. One of its key areas of focus is Natural Language Processing for Portuguese and Indigenous Languages.

IARA (ICMC-USP/MCTI/Fapesp/CGI.br)

IARA, an Applied Research Center (CPA Fapesp), aims to monitor the maturity assessment for Brazilian Smart and Sustainable Cities, proposing guidelines and areas of action for the development of the National and Municipal Policies for Smart and Sustainable Cities.

SoRo Lab (EACH-USP)

The lab explores various sociotechnical aspects of the human-robot interaction, with a particular focus on using social robotics to enhance the quality of life for the elderly and support healthy aging.

Synestech.AI (USP/MCTI/Softex/Motorola)

By merging the fields of Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing, the project aims to explore AI approaches in speech processing, sentiment analysis, and question answering.

Medical Artificial Intelligence Laboratory – MAInLab (FMRP-USP)

This research group investigates how to integrate and select relevant medical attributes from large-scale heterogeneous and dynamic sources, as well as how to interpret the decisions made by machine learning algorithms.

Centro de Ciência de Dados – C2D (Poli-USP/Itaú-Unibanco)

The group conducts research to develop models and processes for managing and discovering knowledge in large volumes of data using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.
